Microsoft 365 Security Review
A practical review of identity, sharing, email and administration before adding more security products.
Review administrator roles
Use separate administrator accounts where practical, remove unnecessary global administrators and protect privileged access with MFA.
Check MFA and sign-in controls
Identify users, legacy authentication or exceptions that weaken the intended sign-in policy.
Review guest and sharing access
Look at external users, anonymous links, SharePoint/OneDrive sharing and stale permissions.
Protect email
Review anti-phishing, impersonation, malicious-link/attachment controls and DMARC/SPF/DKIM configuration where applicable.
Know what is logged and monitored
Clarify which Microsoft alerts are watched, how incidents are escalated and whether Sentinel or another SIEM is part of the operating model.
Plan recovery
Understand native retention versus independent backup requirements for Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams data.
Use the guide as a conversation starter
The guide clarifies ownership and preparation. It does not replace environment-specific engineering or security review.
